Tulips and Lilies
Cheer of tulips and lilies' undiluted glamour!
Good vibrations in the form of gorgeous flowers are bringing me over all poetic - and also barely conscious of the ever-so, never-so seamless gliding by of yet another year...
...it was my birthday, so I've been grasping onto tulips and lilies where I may from those kind enough to send some. There's something so optimistic about spring flowers - unexpected gifts on monotonous childhood walks, and that whole girlish do around impromptu bouquets crammed into moist tinfoil or jam jars of primroses, snowdrops and crocuses...
We used to dismantle them too actually, and a friend of mine maintained that primroses were nutritious... (no wonder I developed hay fever) I'm still here all these years later, I suppose, still upright, so far at least, although how much a part chewing primrose stems played there I couldn't really say.
Yes, it's quite a while since I was a girl, but a sacrifice made for my joy is always worthy of a photograph in my book.
